Brake Pads Installation Instructions

1. Open the brake fluid reservoir cap to allow brake piston retraction.

2. Loosen the wheel lug nuts slightly.

3. Jack up the vehicle securely and remove the wheel.

4. Remove the brake caliper housing.

5. Disconnect the wear sensor (if equipped) and remove the old brake pads.

6. Clean rust and debris, then lubricate:

-Caliper bracket

-Caliper housing contact points

7. Inspect the brake rotor:

-Resurface if uneven

-Chamfer brake pads if needed

8. Install the new brake pads.

9. Check the brake fluid level and add fluid if necessary.

10. Pump the brake pedal repeatedly before driving to prevent initial brake failure.

Recommended Brake Pads & Rotor Kits

For best braking performance and proper fit, we recommend using a complete Hex Autoparts Brake Pads & Brake Rotor Kit.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Brake Pad Noise

Possible causes include:

-Break-in period not completed – additional driving time is needed.

-Debris between the pad and rotor – clean thoroughly.

-Incorrect installation – reinstall the pads properly.

-Cold brake noise – light noise during the first cold stop is normal and does not affect safety.

Poor Braking Performance

Common reasons:

Warped brake rotors – may require additional break-in or replacement.

Brake fluid issues – check fluid age, level, and air in brake lines.

Incorrect installation – pads may stick in the caliper bracket.

Incorrect pad selection – brake pad model may not match the vehicle or driving needs.

Recommended Solution

If braking performance is still poor after inspection, upgrading to a matched brake pads and rotor kit can help restore optimal stopping power.

Cracks on the Friction Surface

-Minor surface cracks may occur due to the ceramic brake pad compound.

-These are generally normal and safe.

-If pads are stuck in the caliper bracket, remove and reinstall correctly.

Friendly Reminder

Brake Pad Replacement Interval

-By mileage: Replace every 50,000 km (30,000 miles)

-By time: Replace every 3 years

Brake Pad Break-in (Bedding-In) Process

-New brake pads and/or rotors require a break-in period.

-Break-in distance ranges from a few hundred to several thousand kilometers, depending on rotor condition.

-Temporary noise or reduced braking performance during break-in is normal.

Why Choose a Brake Pads & Rotor Kit?

Installing new brake pads with new rotors at the same time helps ensure proper bedding-in, reduces noise, and improves overall braking performance.

Important Rotor Preparation Tips

-If the new rotor has anti-rust oil, clean it completely before installation.

-If the rotor has a protective coating, remove it fully. Failure to do so may cause poor braking performance or rotor damage.
